Algeco UK joins forces with BBC DIY SOS to help local family

We recently had the pleasure of donating a raft of containers to the Kidderminster build project featured on BBC’s DIY SOS: The Big Build programme, to make a big difference to a local family’s life.

Eleven-year-old Nathan has a rare genetic disorder called Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. He also has autism and global development delay, which means he has the functioning age of a nine to 12-month-old.

His mum and dad are his full-time carers, tirelessly providing Nathan with round-the-clock care. Thanks to the help and support of the DIY SOS team, army of volunteers and dozens of kind-hearted local businesses, Nathan’s home has been converted to make it a more accessible, safe and useable space for the entire family.

DIY SOS: The Big Build is the BBC’s flagship home renovation programme; presented by Nick Knowles and the team who take on big builds in limited time.

The show relies hugely on the generosity of the local community of tradespeople and suppliers to help transform the lives of truly deserving projects and individuals.

Algeco UK was one of a number of organisations that helped the project take shape by providing:

  • Five 20ft containers - three with racking and two without racking
  • Two office units - one for the design team and one for the production team, as well as an electricity generator
  • One 10ft container - which was used by the electrical team

Louise Stead, Service Centre Manager, said: “We are delighted to have helped play a part in such a worthwhile local family project and help make such a positive difference in Nathan’s life. When we saw the appeal for local business support, we immediately wanted to help in any way we could.”
