How to change a trough urinal cartridge

If your waterless urinal trough is starting to smell, draining slowly, or showing signs of leaking beneath the unit, it may be time to replace the valve/membrane cartridge.

A key sign of failure is a blocked or degraded GW6 membrane cartridge, which can lead to poor drainage, odours, and system failure if not replaced.

If the trough is blocked and not draining:

  • Carefully remove any standing fluid and debris
  • Wear appropriate PPE (gloves and eye protection)
  • Avoid direct contact with waste water.

Watch the video on the right for a step-by-step guide on how to change the urinal cartridge.

Please note: Only take action if it is safe to do so.
